Do you know the different things that could be made using ice cream?

Well, neither did we until we got immersed in the Roll Ice Cream industry. First off you need to understand how large the Ice Cream business is to then comprehend the amount of creative and innovative ways ice cream can be used.

In America alone, it is said that 90% of households regularly indulge in a sweet frozen treat, which results in the average American consuming 26 liters of ice cream a year. It’s like having a scoop of ice cream 4 days of the week for the entire year, which is about 312 lbs of ice cream. Surprisingly China and New Zealand are not very far behind America with their ice consumption.

Why Is So Much Ice Cream Consumed?

After learning the numbers of the amount of ice cream that is actually consumed, we weren’t very surprised as we know ice cream can be enjoyed in over 1000’s of different ways and not only for desert.
We did some digging and found 6 different things that could be made from ice cream. Keep in mind that everyone has their own unique taste, so not every ice cream treat may be for you.

Salted Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream Cake

Imagine an ice cream sandwich on steroids topped with crunchy caramel covered popcorn. If you can’t imagine it, let us describe it for you. Think of a three tier cake, starting at bottom layer there’s a moist flavorful (flavor of your choice) layer of cake, smothered with a delicious and generous heap of ice cream (again you choice of flavor), and now add another fluffy aromatic cake on top of that. Is your mouth watering yet? Well if that doesn’t appease you, let’s go ahead and add a thick layer of sugar icing and now, the greatest part; we top it off with a handful or two of freshly popped caramel popcorn to finish our dish. Did we mention that there was a good bit of caramel drizzled on top of the ice cream before being sandwich? Well there is and this Salted Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream Cake is definitely on our “try this weekend” recipe list.

Ice Cream Boozy Floats.Ice cream float

Boozy Floats is just our fancy way of saying Milkshakes with alcohol,  Dizzy Emoji Emoticon - Free vector graphic on Pixabay so this one is for the after hours adult time. This recipe is all about your personal preference. Floating is a bartending technique of layering liquids in a glass with the most dense at the bottom. In this case we’re layering ice cream and liquor, hence called Boozy Floats. Our favorite thus far is the Coconut Boozy Float. In a 12oz soda glass you will add 2oz of Soda, 2 scoops of home-made coconut ice cream, 2 oz of Malibu Coconut Rum, topped with turbinado syrup and a squeeze of lemon juice. The key to a float is the layers and to achieve this you must pour each liquid along the side of the glass so it doesn’t disturb the layer before it. This is a must try for the next girls night.

Coffee Ice Cream Hot Fudge Sundae Pie

If you enjoy making or consuming cheesecake then this ice cream dessert cake is for you. The recipe we love is a mix between vanilla and coffee ice-cream which give it that latte finish, but again your choice of ice cream could be used. The base of the pie is a crisp macron crust made from scratch. If time is of the essence you can use any premade crust from your local store. Now you want to make sure the ice cream is a bit sofft so it is easy to spread on the crust, this will be your first layer. Again the creativity is yours to define and the amount of ice cream layers is your preference. We only used one layer and placed it back into the freezer to get firm again. Then we added the whipped cream, hot fudge and sprinkles right before serving. The number of alternatives we’ve seen to this ice cream pie recipe is mind blowing, so don’t worry about sticking to the recipe, make it your own and enjoy it.

Ice Cream Bundt Bread

Possibly one of the easiest and most underrated desserts to-date is the Ice Cream Bundt Bread. If you don’t know what a Bundt is; it’s basically the name of the pan shape used to bake the bread. It’s similar to an oversized donut but has ridges like the mountains. (see picture below) With just two ingredients; self-raising flour and the ice cream (flavor of your choice); you can enjoy this fluffy delicious bread within 30 minutes. Combine the two, pour into your Bundt pan and bake. The results will amaze you. You can get creative with your toppings and personalize this dessert for you and your friends.

Deep Fried Ice Cream

As simple as it sounds it is. When we heard of this, we were eager to try. A scoop of vanilla ice cream, rolled in an egg wash (the eggs should be beaten until fluffy) then dipped into a flavorful bread crumb mix, finally submerged into the deep fryer. To achieve this, the ice cream must be firm before dipping into the egg wash and the breaded batter. The result is a warm bite size crispy shell coating over the ice cream. Heaven in a bite. Although it got messy very quickly as the ice cream melted, it was a perfect dessert after a simple soup and salad dinner.

Ice Cream French Toast

Well this was definitely a new one for us. We usually stay away from french toast because it’s sometimes too sweet, but when we heard this recipe included ice cream we had to make an exception. We were quite curious how ice cream would hold up as a coating to be heated, instead of eggs. The recipe called for soaking the bread on each side in melted ice cream of your choice for about ten seconds, then placing it into a heated sauce pan with melted butter. It sizzles for a bit as the water and melted butter mixes but then oh my goodness, the final slice of toast with a drizzle of chocolate fudge or even Maple syrup if you want that extra sweetness, maybe a slice of banana and some strawberries, is as good as gold. Trying to convince your children that ice cream isn’t for breakfast is going to be a challenge after experiencing this way of using ice cream.

Ice Cream TacosIce cream taco

We saved the best for last. We could be biased to this particular use of ice cream, because not only do we love Roll Ice Cream, but we sell the machines to make Roll Ice Cream. We first came across Rolled Ice Cream Tacos back in 2019 and was recently re-introduced to them through  The Rainbow Rolls, a rolled ice cream shop in NY. Seeing as the first taco was created in NY it’s only fitting that this NY based shop has innovated the infamous ice cream taco; one ginormous roll of ice cream served in a waffle taco shell. The same goodness of ice cream in a waffle cone, is now brought to you in the shape of your favourite American Tuesday meal. So if you’re in the Long Island, NY area you should include these amazing ice cream tacos in your Taco Tuesdays get togethers.

So far we’ve only listed six 6 things but really there’s over one thousand things that could be made using ice cream. The creativity is as limitless as the flavors of ice cream, so don’t be hesitant to try something new. As we saw in the short list above some of the uses can be for breakfast or dinner and most definitely for desserts. The possibilities are endless; once the consumer’s mind can imagine it ice cream can do it. We added a video below with some extra recipes for you to try. Come back and let us know how they came out.
